7 Simple Home Staging Tips to Sell Fast

As the real estate market really starts to warm up this spring, now’s the time to make sure your home stands out. Here are some tips to make it easier to stage your home to find a buyer–and the right price–as quick as possible!

Curb Appeal is Key

So many buyers fall in “love at first sight,” and making your home beautiful on the outside makes them take a second look. Paint your front door, replace worn door hardware, upgrade your house numbers, add potted plants, and maintain the lawn. These little things will make your home stand out in the mind of a buyer as they shop for a home.

Update the Interior

An upgrade can be as simple as staining or painting worn cabinets and replacing knobs and hardware. Painting rooms a fresh neutral color creates an inviting blank canvas where prospective buyers can imagine themselves making it their own.

Less is More

Bold wall colors can distract buyers from considering what it would be like to own your home, but so can prominent decorative objects and personal stuff like family pictures and kids toys. A quick declutter is all it takes to help buyers get a better feel for your home.

Make Your Home Shine

Some of the most important features of a home are its bathrooms and kitchen. Make sure they’re spotless with a deep cleaning. You can also give their appeal a boost with a tasteful vase of flowers or a plant.  Creating a spa-like retreat in the bathrooms with fresh towels and bath accessories will entice prospective buyers.

Give Spaces a Purpose

We all have those areas in our house that we don’t use for anything in particular. Help buyers get an idea for these spaces by giving them a purpose. Turn a big empty closet, for example, into a craft area or a bare corner into a cozy reading nook.

Go Toward the Light

Buyers love bright spaces. Give them what they want by opening shades and curtains, adding lamps to darker rooms and cleaning your windows and screens for maximum natural light. A few well-placed mirrors can also make a big difference, especially across from an open window.

Professional Photos Matter

It’s easy to take your own photographs with the technology we all have at our fingertips, but there’s no substitute for a pro. No matter how beautiful your home is, if the pictures aren’t stunning, prospective buyers might not want a second look. Most buyers these days see a home for the first time in online pictures, so it’s worth it to have an expert show your home at its best.
